Race Name: Homunculus
Distinguishing features: Homunculi are artificially generated beings, retaining human physical form and mental capabilities, but lacking the definitive trait of life that is a soul, whose existence is replaced and replicated, to some slight degree, with "philosopher's stones." Ruthless and determined, these soulless beings serve as the principle villains of the Fullmetal Alchemist series. They are manipulative, pulling the strings from behind the scenes for much of history, and cutting them when they no longer serve a purpose.
All Homunculi bear the mark of the Ouroborus, though the location of the tattoo varies from homunculus to homunculus. The winged serpent consuming its own tail represents the cycle of life and death through which the Homunculi constantly pass. This specific Ouroborus also features the Seal of Solomon, which depicts the unity of the alchemic symbols for fire and water (Upwards and downwards triangles, respectively). In alchemy, the union of opposing elements is symbolic of both transmutation and the quest for the Philosopher's Stone.
Whereas the existence of a human beings revolves around the soul, the existence of the Homunculi is sparked by the incomplete Philosopher's Stone(s) (similar, but not identical, to the real Philosopher's Stone in alchemy) they carry within them. Due to the healing powers of the stone, Homunculi are endowed with amazing regenerative abilities, even to the point of allowing them to return from utter annihilation. This impressive ability, however, is fueled by the souls of the stone, and should their stones be depleted, their death is imminent. Apart from this healing power, each homunculus is gifted with a paranormal power, which manifests itself uniquely for each of the Homunculi (see their individual profiles for details).
Of the seven Homunculi present in the series, each is named after one of the seven deadly sins of Dante's Inferno: Lust, Gluttony, Envy, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, and Pride. As such, some of their personality and/or character traits are defined by which sin they are the embodiment of. They are cruel sociopaths, as one would expect of incarnations of sin, although not without some deeper significance. It would be erroneous to simply label them soulless dolls, as some are seen to question their nature, and even the validity of their existence.
Whether due to the loss of a loved one or simply foolish curiosity, human transmutations are attempted; that is to say, the resurrection of a dead person. Unfortunately, when these attempts backfire, a separate life is created. "That is how the damned are born. That is a Homunculus." On initial creation, Homunculi do not possess human features, but rather resemble hideous beings of decay; organ piles and bones jutting out at odd angles in a horrific display. If left alone, they would always remain in this deformed yet helpless state. By feeding on Philosopher's Stones, complete or otherwise, they gain the ability to take human shape, specifically the appearance of whom they were based on, as well as their regenerative and phenomenal abilities. By consuming still more Philosopher's Stones, they can extend their lives indefinitely, though they are by no means immortal. "They start out as innocent children, but over time their powers corrupt them."
Because they serve as an imitation of life, they are weakened by the presence of the real thing. When brought into close proximity with the remains of the person that was supposed to be resurrected, they are weakened (to the point of paralysis if too close). Because of this, Homunculi who have discovered their remains often keep them under lock and key, unable to personally destroy them and untrusting of others to do the deed for them. Homunculi are also unable to perform Alchemy, as they come from within the Gate, where the Truth behind Alchemy lies.
Due to the realization that they are fake mockeries of real life, some, pursue the dream of one day becoming fully human, attaining a soul. To this end, they are tireless, although their personal inability to perform alchemy hinders them. As they are powered by incomplete philosopher's stones and crystallized red water, they seek the power of the true stone, and one who would grant them their one wish.
Main area of residence: Anywhere
----
Bonus: They are gifted with a power, They can come back to life after being killed, they start with 250 stat points
Weakness: If you bind them in a binding circle they spit up all their stones, and become weak. If you have remains of the person they where trying to be back they are weakened as well, They cannot do alchemy
